Collect memories, not things.
This is one of the Family Vacay mantras. However, collecting some things can be a great way to keep treasured memories alive.
I remember the excitement of a new stamp in my passport and flipping through the pages to reminisce about my past travels. That’s how travel keepsakes should make you feel. They should transport you back to a favorite destination or a special time with your family. That’s why we have come up with 5 ideas for keepsakes that you’ll use – and the bonus is they are all affordable, and easy to pack.
5 Travel Souvenirs to Keep Your Vacay Memories Alive
- Stickers. My family has always collected stickers from places we visit and put them on our hard-sided suitcases. Now, every time we pull them out to pack, we get to reminisce about our family vacay adventures. Stickers are also great for a roof box or water bottles.
- Patches. Like stickers, they are affordable and small to pack. These are ideal for putting on soft-sided luggage or backpacks. The bonus for patches and stickers is that they also make your luggage unique and easy to identify.
- Photobooks. Photos are such a great way to keep the vacation memories alive, and there are so many affordable and easy tools available to help you create photo books. After each trip, you can create an album on your phone and upload them directly to create your vacay photobook.
- Pins. Christmas ornaments are a common souvenir. However, a twist on ornaments are pins, which can be placed on Christmas stockings. Each family member can pick out their pin and place it on their stocking. My family did this as a child, and I love looking at my stocking and remembering the story tied to each pin.
- Mugs. Imagine each time you grab a cup of coffee being transported back to one of your favorite destinations. Or being able to tell your guests about your last family vacay while they sip hot chocolate. Mugs are something usable and easy to find. Your whole family can help to pick out the mugs to add to your family collection.
