Crystal blue waters, lush walkways, and swaying palm trees surround guests at the 5-star Fairmont Mayakoba. This resort is set within an expansive gated community with several other luxury resorts. It is perfect location for families wanting to enjoy this tropical location in a secluded, quiet, and safe area. There’s so much to do in Mayakoba, that we never felt the need to leave during our 5-day vacation here.
Maykoba is in Riviera Maya, Mexico and just a 30-minute drive south from the Cancun airport. I recommend hiring a car through the resort’s concierge to ensure you get their efficiently and safely.
The moment you step into the lobby, you are immersed in the tropical vibes. Every inch of the resort has beautiful walkways with impeccable landscaping. The Fairmont Mayakoba is huge, and you’ll find that most guests prefer to get around via golf carts. There are stations located throughout the resort, so you can always find one headed where you’re going.
The rooms are spacious, and newly renovated, with large, private balconies set along the waterways, where you’ll see turtles, birds, and other wildlife. What’s unique is that each room has a private entrance from the outside which make them feel like you’re own private villa.
A main mode of transportation is via electric boats that connect all the resorts within the community. And if you’d like a close-up view of the wildlife you can sign up for a nature boat tour. Mayakoba is known for its commitment to re-energizing and protecting the local nature and wildlife.
There are several pools located throughout the resort, including the newest pool at the Mayakana Beach Club. With so many choices, you can enjoy a new pool and view each day! The beach area is wonderful, and the service is fantastic. The staff will help you find a spot in the shade and make sure you’re comfortable and happy. While at the beach you can enjoy food and drink service, kayaks and paddle boards, or completely relax at the beach bar or full-service restaurants.
There are several onsite dining choices including room service. We didn’t opt-in to the all-inclusive plan, but it is available to guests for an additional daily fee. The reason we didn’t sign up for the all-inclusive package was that we wanted to dine at the Rosewood Mayakoba and the Banyan Tree Mayakoba, and we are so glad we did! The resorts are all connected, and the staff will transport you.
If you’re considering a family vacay to Mexico, then you need to check out the Fairmont Mayakoba. We can’t wait to return! And if you’re thinking about a Fairmont hotel in the U.S., then you can read about our visit to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
