Nestled on Pier 57, Miner’s Landing is a destination full of family-friendly fun. In addition to beautiful views of the bay, you can ride the Great Wheel, experience Wings Over Washington, eat delicious seafood, and enjoy amusements. You can easily spend an entire afternoon here.
The inside section of this tourist attraction hosts restaurants, gifts shops, an arcade, a carousel, and other amusements to entertain the whole family.
Great Wheel Seattle
The Seattle Great Wheel is the tallest Ferris wheel on the West Coast and was one of our favorite activities. Reaching 175 feet tall, the Great Wheel has comfortable cabins that provide 360-degree views of the surrounding area. We chose to ride in the VIP gondola, which fits up to four people with individual leather seats. Its most unique feature is the glass bottom, which tests your fear of heights especially when you’re directly over the water.
Regular admission is $16/adult, $11/youth (3-11), and free for kids 2 and younger. If you’re interested in the VIP gondola it is $50/ person and comes with some additional perks such as photos and t-shirts.
Wings Over Washington
Get ready to feel like you’re flying over Washington on this aerial adventure. This ride is very similar to Soarin’ Around the World at Disney’s California Adventure except it showcases Washington state landmarks and scenery. It made us all feel a little motion sick, and it sprays you with water — which we could’ve done without — to enhance specific moments, like when you’re flying over a whale’s spout.
Wings Over Washington is right next to the Great Wheel, so if you have extra time, you should check it out. If the line is short, it only takes about 20 minutes to complete. Riders need to be at least 42″ tall to ride, and the cost is $17/adult and $13/youth.
Overall, Miner’s Landing is a fun place to go for family entertainment. The bonus is that it’s located right next to the Seattle Aquarium. We didn’t have a chance to visit the aquarium, but we hope to on our next trip to this city.
