Looking for dog-friendly hotels in Boise? Well lucky for you, Boise loves dogs! With expansive outdoor recreation areas and dog-friendly patios, Boise is a city almost designed for dogs. In addition to the Greenbelt, river, and hiking trails, Boise has seven dedicated off-leash dog parks and 9 off-leash areas that are open seasonally or during specific times of the day.
If you are planning to visit Boise with your furry friends, there are many dog-friendly accommodations. However, below are Family Vacay’s top three choices for dog-friendly hotels in Boise. These three hotels offer either the perfect location for dogs and active families or provide an upscale experience for people AND pets.
- Hotel 43: Upscale hotel located in the center of downtown. Has an incredible restaurant onsite.
- The Riverside Hotel: Perfect location for easy access to the river and Greenbelt. Plus has an onsite dog-friendly restaurant open spring through fall.
- Inn at 500 Capital: Boutique hotel with unique rooms. Located downtown and next to a large park.
Hotel 43
This is an upscale, contemporary hotel located right in the center of downtown. When staying here you’ll have access to incredible shopping, dining and entertainment all within walking distance. And make sure to dine onsite at Chandlers, which is one of Boise’s best restaurants (and a favorite of ours). Leave the pups in the room (which is allowed here) and enjoy one of their famous 10-minute martinis, listen to live music, and dine in luxury.
Hotel 43 provides pet beds, water and food dishes, treats, doggie bags, and a leash for you to use while staying. They charge a $75 non-refundable fee for each pet and allow for up to two dogs (but no cats). This hotel doesn’t just allow dogs, they truly welcome and pamper them!
The Riverside Hotel
Situated right along the Boise River and Greenbelt, this location is great for those that want easy access to outdoor activities with their pup. Although this hotel isn’t downtown, it is located within walking distance to several great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and wineries – all of which are dog friendly.
When staying at the Riverside Hotel Boise you can step right out of the hotel and onto the greenbelt where you can stroll along the beautiful river for miles, watch surfers at the Whitewater Park, or even rent a paddleboard for you and your pup. The hotel doesn’t allow for dogs to be left unattended, so if you stay here make sure to plan your agenda to include your furry friends.
There is a great outdoor pool with food and drink service at the Riverside, which is heated in the winter. For dining, one of the best dog-friendly patios (the Sandbar) is located onsite. So, if you’re staying in the warmer months, make sure to take advantage of the live music and festive patio dining.
And lastly, one of our favorite things we look forward to is the freshly made chocolate chip cookies they leave for you in your room daily! It’s such a sweet way to end an activity-filled day with your people and pets.
Inn at 500 Capital
The Inn at 500 is a boutique hotel located in downtown Boise, right next to a large park. Dogs and cats are welcome, and they allow for them to be left alone in the room. They provide bowls, a bed, and treats in the room to ensure your pets have the same level of comfort that you do. They don’t just offer treats for the pets; humans are also greeted here with local wine and beer.
This hotel has uniquely designed rooms, local art displayed throughout, and a restaurant (Richard’s) onsite. Richard’s isn’t dog friendly, however, it is a great choice for a cocktail or dinner after an active day with your pup.
Limited pet-friendly rooms are available, so make sure to notify the hotel when making reservations. A fee of $75 per pet, per stay, applies, with additional fees for Spa Suites and Penthouses.
Restaurant Suggestions
While in Boise, you’ll need to eat. And if you don’t want to leave the pup in the room there are plenty of restaurants downtown and throughout Boise, that allow dogs on the patio. However, we have some of our tried-and-true favorites that we want to highlight.
- Lucky 13 Pizza: Casual spot located in Harris Ranch (East Boise), next to the Greenbelt and many great hiking trails. It has a large outdoor patio always full of pups. They serve pizza, sandwiches, and salads with a full bar.
- The STIL: After pizza at Lucky 13, next door is the STIL, where you can indulge a little more with some amazing ice cream. Made in small batches, and unique flavors, including some that are booze-infused for those 21+. Don’t worry, the pups have options here too! They also have a downtown location.
- Sandbar: Located at the Riverside Hotel right on the Greenbelt and River. They have live music and a patio always full of happy dogs. Open spring through fall.
- Western Collective: This brewery is so much fun! Technically located in Garden City, a neighboring city to Boise, but right near the downtown area. Also conveniently located near the Riverside. 100% kid and dog friendly. Suggest checking out their Facebook page to get a feel for the fun, and dog-approved atmosphere.
- Telaya Winery: This is such a fun spot to enjoy a beautiful patio and have access to the Greenbelt and river (I’m guessing there’s a theme here). Grab a table, or chairs by the firepits, and order a glass of wine. There are often food trucks onsite, or you can order from some of the restaurants close by. If you’re staying at The Riverside Hotel, this is next door.
