All offer something unique, and no matter which adventure you choose, wonderful family memories will be created.

Additionally, in the summer this natural wonder offers recreational activities such as swimming, paddleboarding, hiking, and picnic areas to enjoy the views.
(2) Whitewater Rafting (1 hour)
After a short, and scenic 1-hour drive you can be ready to start your whitewater rafting adventure. Visitors can explore the dunes by hiking, sandboarding, or sledding, and equipment is available for rent at the Visitor Center. Fishing and horseback riding are also accessible nearby. At night the Bruneau Dunes Observatory is a great place to gaze at the sky through the collection of telescopes. The heat is intense during the summer months, so make sure to visit early in the morning or evening when the sun has gone down. The dunes provide no shade — so bring your sunscreen and leave Fido at home as the sand gets too hot.
(4) Idaho City
Founded in 1862 during the gold rush boom, Idaho City is a short drive from Boise. Step back in time to eat where miners dined, visit the “Merc,” where a pinch of gold could buy you an apple, peer through the bars of the jailhouse, and view other historical landmarks. While in Idaho City you can also enjoy the abundance of outdoor activities and beautiful mountain scenery.
