This past weekend we were looking for something fun (and unique) to do as a family with some of our friends. We went bowling during our recent vacay in Sun Valley and thought we’d give it a try in Boise as well.
Bowling isn’t something that we do often — but when we do it’s always a blast! Below are family-friendly options for bowling in Boise, including Emerald Lanes, which is where we selected.
Emerald Lanes
When black lights, fun music, and bowling combine you get Cosmic Bowling! We chose Emerald Lanes because we wanted a little bit more of an “old school” vibe and something close to downtown. This location has been recently upgraded. It has a large arcade area with pool tables, a bar, and a 24-lane bowling alley. Starting at 6 pm on the weekends the lanes get dark and neon lights and music appear. You can order drinks and bar food from the table at your lane — which we took full advantage of. The prices are reasonable, and they can add bumpers for specific players, which was convenient for the little ones.
Big Al’s
Bowling lanes, arcade, sports bar, and a full menu are what you’ll find at Big Al’s Boise. This large, two-story complex is technically located in Meridian, just a short drive from Boise. Big Al’s sits within the Village at Meridian, which is full of shops and restaurants to entertain the whole family before or after bowling.
Wahooz Family Fun Zone
This is another fun spot in Meridian that will keep your family busy for hours. In addition to bowling, Wahooz Family Fun Zone, has a large arcade, small indoor rides, go-carts, mini-golf, and much more. During the summer you can also visit Roaring Springs Water Park which is next door.
Western Proper
Western Proper is a local, cool spot in downtown Boise. It is part of the Western Collective brewery and features great beer, craft cocktails, and delicious food. The lounge area features four lanes of mini-bowling, air-hockey, and other games to keep adults and kids entertained. The scene here is fantastic — so if you’re visiting Boise make sure to add Western Proper to your itinerary.
